Seeking advice doesn't reveal incompetence. It reflects respect for another person's insight. Requesting feedback doesn't signal insecurity. It demonstrates that you care more about your learning than your ego. Asking for help doesn't display weakness. It builds strength.

One thing I’ve gained self-awareness on over the past few years is my refusal to make anything about 'us vs them'. It doesn’t matter the issue, the arena, or the people. I will not pit person vs person, group vs group. I want to connect, not contribute to further disconnection.

Effective leaders know teachers have a lot on them right now so they work to add to the calm not to the chaos.

One of my favorite things about school culture… is that everyone gets to contribute to it. It is not just a reflection of the administration or the leadership team; it is a reflection of everyone.

When you are purpose driven, you do not let failures, bad days, or set backs get you down too much. Because your purpose is greater than your circumstances.

We are in great need of relational commitment & discipline in our society. This is true in organizations, families, schools, & government. To navigate the challenges we face, we must operate from a foundation of deep commitment, effective communication, & uncommon collaboration.

You are made by your choices, not your circumstances. Circumstances are a factor, but not the deciding factor.

To be hurt, feel anger, and show love is a sign of maturity and wisdom. Things will cause you pain. People will push your buttons. We know this with absolute certainty. You either perpetuate and amplify the cycle of outrage. Or you put something more positive into the cycle.
