Today the UNO Ed. Leadership program has its first completely virtual dissertation defense. Great work by my doctoral student Kevin Nanney adapting during these unique times and becoming the newest Ph.D. graduate of University of New Orleans

Congrats to @ararcene for the latest successful doctoral defense in the UNO Ed. Leadership Ph.D. program! Jay Clune: looks like Nichols State will need to add Ph.D. to Alex's business cards and office nameplate.

Congrats to UNO Ed. Leadership doctoral student Drake Owens , who earlier today successfully defended his dissertation on stakeholder perceptions of the Louisiana GRAD ACT. Along with @ararcene on Monday, that is two great leaders in the UL System that are University of New Orleans doctoral alumni now!

I just got a request from a journal to review a manuscript (within 3 weeks). Said journal has had one of my manuscripts "in review" for 15 months, with little response to my inquires about the status...#facultylife

From my dissertation research, a still sadly applicable quote, more than 50 years later: "We are tolerated" (Eric Moore, first Black Student Senate President, NC State University, 1969)

Had an academic first: I pulled a manuscript from journal. The editors (who often didn't respond to queries) had the manuscript for nearly 18 months with no decision. Academic publishing can do so much better (and some journals do a great job).

Just got word that a manuscript with Sonja Ardoin, Ph.D. and Leslie Locke was accepted by The Professional Educator. The editorial process was perhaps my best experience ever. Would highly recommend submitting with them.

I feel @UNOpresidentJN might be the most communicative president in all higher ed. How many faculty can email their president and get a response in 6 minutes?
