Recent rain risks flooding but here we see the benefit of connecting a river with its floodplain for storing and then gradually releasing water as levels subside. This is the Yare (on left), downstream of the Colney gauging station. Data from: environment.data.gov.uk/hydrology/stat… UEA School of Environmental Sciences
Start of the day for the FRESH4Cs final conference in Ipswich to learn from the 6 projects demonstrating sustainable freshwater resource solutions in lowland coastal areas in the UK, Belgium and The Netherlands UEA School of Environmental Sciences UEA Research @Vlakwa
Good to see the Interreg 2 Seas FRESH4Cs project featured in Defra's recent integrated Plan for Water. See the video from 1:34 - 1:54 with the SoS at the King's Fleet pumping station, Felixstowe, Suffolk UEA School of Environmental Sciences @uearesearch @Vlakwa

Our new paper on the denitrification potential of clay loam soils using the dual-isotopes of nitrate measured in field drainage in the River Wensum catchment headwaters UEA School of Environmental Sciences See article link: authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S08…
Here is our recent paper demonstrating the storage of water underground in the Suffolk Crag (sand & gravel) aquifer for later abstraction for irrigation water use. Managed aquifer recharge (#MAR) for the sustainable development of water resources. authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S03… UEA School of Environmental Sciences
Great to get started on the EU FARMWISE project investigating climate impacts on water resources for European agriculture including a UK case study in the Wensum catchment. The kick off meeting is at the grand Hypoteket building in Lund, Sweden. Impressive lamp shades UEA School of Environmental Sciences
Much of East Anglia is covered by mid-Pleistocene glacial deposits such as the chalky boulder clay. In our new J Hydrol paper we show how lithology affects pore water isotope and hydrochemical profiles with emphasis on agriculture nitrate.
