I participated in the RES Women's Committee Mentoring Programme last year and it was a great opportunity to learn from senior economists how to navigate academia, apply for grants and publish papers. I strongly recommend it!

Sorry for your loss James. We all only have one Dad. Yours sounds like an amazing man. The world is never quite the same after your Dad goes. But it is clear you have lots of music to remember him by. Dwell on the good memories and give yourself time to grieve.

You are right to say that if schools equate MPK and MPL then we cannot identify the prod fn. But I suggest schools can’t generally measure MPK and MPL anyway!

I think we agree. Schools should know MCl and MCk but don’t know Y=f(K,L). They may think of Y as gain scores (many will not have this objective fn tho) but since they don’t know f it is unclear how to allocate resources.

Sadly a scholarly giant of Econometrics died yesterday. Tony Lancaster was a pioneer in the study of unemployment duration and the use of Bayesian methods and Transition data. He was also a personal friend and mentor to some of the greats eg: guido imbens AndrewChesher
