Having a fantastic writing day. A lot of the time, writing academic stuff is boring and stressful and time-consuming. Every now and then though I just love it. I have a, "Yeah! This is why I'm doing this whole thing!" moment of clarity. Progress! :D #phdchat

Is it okay to use the word “ute” in an Australian PhD thesis? Should I Americanise it to “pickup” or “truck”? Is there a more neutral word I’m forgetting? Don’t want it to sound too formal as it’s in the midst of an ethnographic vignette #PhDchat

I wish I could get paid just to come up with catchy titles for books, sections, chapters, articles, etc. It's my favourite sort-of-procrastination part of writing up my thesis. #phdchat

Made it to 10-5 in the International Challenge and then decided to squeeze in a couple more games. Now I'm 10-7... That's enough Pokemon for today I reckon. Still, pretty pleased with my new team. I've been losing mostly to either misplays or hax, not difficult matchups.

Umm, what? I’ve barely got enough cards to make a decent deck and I accidentally qualified somehow. I only started playing TCG online because I got sick of VGC20 lol. I suppose I might as well play since I didn’t bother doing the IC for VGC.

I bought a trainer’s toolkit so I could put some Dedenne in my deck for the Player’s Cup. First Unbroken Bonds pack I ever open and I pull this. My pulls online are never this good. I’ve been trying to get a Dedenne on PTCGO for ages now.

Made it to Winners round 3 in my first ever TCG tournament (double bye haha). I don’t get to actually play until next weekend.

New book arrived today 😊 Thanks Sorcha O'Mahony for writing it. Loved the start while reading online through the library, so decided to buy a copy.

Made it to round 6 of losers bracket before getting knocked out of TCG Player’s Cup. Not bad for my first tournament, even if I did get a head start with a couple of byes lol
