Dr Randy Abbey educates Ghanaians on the pricing of cocoa. Very educational to appreciate this government for giving Ghanaians 70% of FOB. Unless you want the cedi to depreciate to 20gh to see huge figure.

The government would have been paying over 6,000 cedis to cocoa farmers if the cedi was still exchanging at 16 or 17 cedis per dollar. Thankfully, we now have a functioning government that maintains a stronger exchange rate of 10 cedis to the dollar.

What came about the recent price of cocoa; 1. $5,040 x 16.5gh / 16 = Ghs 5,197.5 2. $5,040 x 10.25gh/16 = Ghs 3,228.75 When you compare Scenario 1 to Scenario 2, you would know that the current price is not appreciable in cedis because of the sterling performance of the cedi.
