Vaccinating badgers shows better reduction in bovine TB rates than badger culls. Amazing to see Cornish farmers, @CwallWildlife Cornwall Badgers and ZSL all getting into the science. Now let’s hope Steve Reed MP considers this and pushed for more modern and humane policy.

We’ve finished budget planning for the upcoming planting season, and it’s looking positive. We’re doing 100,000 trees this year, doubling the work we’ve done in the last four years(!!), but cash flow is the tricky bit. Help us by sponsoring a trees now. protect.earth/donate

When a community-led reforestation project faced setbacks, Protect Earth took action to restore it. Despite not being our project, we saw the importance of supporting the community by self-funding the effort. Click the link to read more: buff.ly/46LlyHC

The next 100 people to follow us on Threads will get a free native British tree certificate. You’ll see what species was planted, and where, so can go visit it and see how the woodland is doing. threads.net/@protectearthu…

You know I bang on about scrub a lot? And how to create it in a useful way on farms? Well look at this! This is NOT a hedge. It’s an infield scrub patch and it’s glorious!!! Easy to grow, can be farmed around, sitting on a steep rocky bit of land and full of Food!! Love it!

This is bad for farmers, bad for biodiversity, bad for climate targets, and completely unnecessary when the government could save £15bn scrapping damaging road schemes instead. theguardian.com/environment/ar…

Exciting news for people near Bath, we’re starting a new community woodland! Contribute to this crowdfunder, because if we can raise enough money to buy this 70 acres of disused farmland we can do our most amazing project yet! crowdfunder.co.uk/p/reforestatio…

We’ve been filming with Phil Sturgeon (BlueSky/Threads @philsturgeon) Protect Earth down in Cornwall on their #AncientWoodlandRestoration site for a new film. Interestingly they are also looking to take on a new #wetlands project on a riverside parcel of land near #Bath. Please donate to their crowdfunder!

You may remember that we supported the charity Protect Earth when they were raising funds to try to buy and protect Blackswarth Rd Wood. They are now looking at a site near Bath and this time there is no auction process. You can find out more on crowdfunder.co.uk/p/reforestatio…

Charly PocketfullofAcorns visited Phil Sturgeon (BlueSky/Threads @philsturgeon) from Protect Earth who’s restoring High Wood, a 64-acre #ancientwoodland in #Liskeard back to its #temperaterainforest glory. 🌱 With only 2.5% ancient woodland left in the UK, restoration is key! Stay tuned for our next film. 🎥

Look at the map. As someone who shoots I’m appalled and embarrassed in equal measure. Fully metastasised across the entire country with a hot spot on my patch. Bloody hideous. Well done RSPB
