Wellcome Sanger Institute PhD students are true DNA enthusiasts, pondering the wonders of genomics anytime, anywhere. Here's a glimpse of our PhD retreat 2023 🧬 #PhDLife #DNA

So excited to share our work with Tobi Alegbe and @Lelandtlr where we used #singlecell on a large #IBD and healthy cohort to identify gastrointestinal cell types, genes and pathways associated with #Crohns disease ! medrxiv.org/content/10.110…

Glad to see that the joint study of our team from Heidelberg Myeloma and DKFZ on how tumor heterogeneity drives therapy resistance in multiple #myeloma is now out in Blood doi.org/10.1182/blood.… and highlighted by Universitätsklinikum Heidelberg tinyurl.com/bdd9c64s

Gene therapy is big news! bbc.in/478lz7X and a major advance for patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) & thalassemia. But in some recent trials, a small number of patients developed blood cancer. Our study (out in Nature Medicine ) asked why... nature.com/articles/s4159…

Excited to share the first preprint of my PhD Wellcome Sanger Institute looking into the prevalence and genetic mechanisms of gene misexpression in 4,568 whole blood RNA-seq samples from the INTERVAL cohort. biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…

Very excited to share that our work reconstructing chromothripsis has now been published in Cell Genomics! We reconstructed chromosomes with up to 800 rearrangements on a single allele and queried epigenetic and transcriptomic consequences. Thread below! cell.com/cell-genomics/…

Peter’s departure from Sanger certainly took me by surprise, but I’m equally excited for his next chapter. A wonderful tribute by Inigo Martincorena to someone who I, in my brief experience in this field, consider a true pioneer and even greater human. Academia will miss him dearly.
