September 28th of each year is recognized as 'Test Your Smoke Alarm Day' in Ontario, but testing your smoke alarms should be a monthly habit to ensure the safety of you and your loved ones. Test all smoke alarms in the home on a monthly basis and you could be #SavedByTheBeep

To address the high snow accumulation, we have deployed sidewalk plows with the blower attachment - they are more effective, but are slower than simply plowing. We appreciate the community's patience as we continue to work through routes across the city.

Snow clearing operations are ongoing: thank you to crews who have been working around the clock and will continue until all roads, sidewalks, trails and bus stops are cleared. A Significant Weather Event remains in place, so delays are expected & on-street parking is restricted.

Snow clearing operations continue in #ptbo with 54cm accumulation recorded Monday. High snowbanks may impede sight lines. Use caution when entering & exiting intersections & laneways. ⚠️ Gently clear your vents of snow to prevent carbon monoxide build up in your home.

If you can safely do so, please consider clearing any storm drains near your home to reduce localized flooding and pooling water. Follow Otonabee Conservation for Flood Status updates on local waterways, including the Otonabee River and Trent Severn Waterway. (2/2)
