Elias et al. show that subcallosal cingulate DBS alters activity in brain regions implicated in mood, including dorsal anterior cingulate cortex, in patients with symptoms of depression. The changes correlate with long-term antidepressant outcomes. bit.ly/3JaEe7z

Another excellent example of how consistent the subgenual cingulate finding is in depression and how well poised neurostimulation is to leverage this mechanistic link in the clinical setting for personalisation.

Advancing clinical translation in TMS is built on science like this. Congratulations Kartik Iyer and our own @LucaCocchi78 @LukeJHearne. This study shows how distributed patterns of brain activity balance local neural perturbations (e.g. TMS) to preserve cognition/behaviour.
