The UK govt is considering removing the cap on bankers' bonuses: necessary they say to attract/retain scarce & superior ‘talent.’ Maybe. But impressions of both help financial/professional elites justify bumper pay packets and a (phoney) ‘war for talent’ is one way they do it.

I tweeted earlier on govt plans for bankers’ bonuses. To add to that, the ‘war for talent’ rhetoric is often leveraged during crises by City elites to justify high pay - after the financial crisis of 2008 for example and now, as many others struggle with the cost of living.

This policy is ideological (informed by vested interests and power) not based on evidence or ‘truth.’ Very high pay drives inequalities which have a deleterious effect on our economy/society. It’s as important as ever to expose these narratives as cultural myths.

Oh my gosh....only £1600 has been raised so far in a fortnight 😔 If anyone has a tenner to spare, it would take just 1000 people to reach the target & at least a challenge could be made 🙏 Anyone local to London, or just love the idea of the East End, please share even if you
