I think conservatives write off AOC way too easily. I mean yeah you can point to her "defund the police" link from her website and whatever, but the lesson of the last decade is that policy details don't matter as much. She's charismatic, energetic, and optimistic.

You couldn't cover up a full-on recession, but I'm not sure this is true more generally. People know if THEY can't find a job etc. but are very bad at knowing how things are going beyond that, if things are worse elsewhere/in older times, etc.
