Currently in Year 4 we are basing our literacy on Guy Bass novel, Stitch Head. Nancee has enjoyed it so much that she has painted me my very own Fulbert Freakfinder to keep in the classroom. A lovely surprise this morning! 🀩

A few year 3 and 4 children took part in a Multi-skills festival at Blackpool Stanley Park. Showing resilience and great relationships throughout. Great ambassadors for Layton Primary School Layton year 3

As we have been learning about the effects of transport on the environment, 4B have created posters to raise awareness and offer cleaner alternatives to travel 🚘🌏

This half term the children in Year 4 have been investigating the effects of sugar on teeth. After a rather smelly experiment we discovered that sugar can have a detrimental effect on teeth, eroding enamel and causing cavities.

After discussing what they already knew about sound and making their own predictions, 4B participated in a sound walk around school to investigate what noises they could hear and what was causing them. We discovered that the playground was the noisiest, despite it being empty!

As part of #AntiBullyingWeek the children in 4B have been sharing kind words about one another. After reading the positive comments, we spoke about how they made us feel and the importance of being kind to others. #KindnessMatters

4D have been using Smarties to help with their Fraction learning today! They had to find the fractions of the different colours and see if they could simplify or find any equivalent fractions. They then used this practical learning to add fractions together

Continuing with the Stitch Head theme, the children in Year 4 have created their own non-chronological reports. Have a read to find out more… guy 🐘

I just had to share this video of Oscar explaining how sound travels through the ear. It is clear that this young man has put a lot of effort into his home learning. Well done 🀩 Year 4 Layton Primary School
