Erzsébet Szőnyi was born on 25 April 1924 in Budapest and studied composition. A pupil of Zoltán Kodály and also Olivier Messiaen at the Paris Conservatoire, her compositions include 6 pieces for organ, organ concerto, the Introduction Passacaille and Fugue and five Preludes.
