Currently, there's no cure for PF. However, some treatments can slow down the progression rate, whereas others help manage symptoms. Over the coming days we will look at various treatment options however it is important to remember not all treatments are suitable for everyone.

Medications are often specific to a particular type of PF therefore the treatment for one type may not be suitable for another. Here are the medications used to treat PF: Pirfenidone Nintedanib Corticosteroids Mycophenolate mofetil/mycophenolic acid

Interstitial lung disease is a broad category of over 200 lung diseases that affect the lung interstitium. Some ILDs cause lung scarring (fibrosis), such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and asbestosis. Others cause inflammation but not lung scarring #fibrosisfacts

People living with PF are at greater risk of severe illness from COVID-19 & influenza, steps should be taken to protect themselves, e.g. vaccinations and mask wearing in public places. Vaccinations for people with PF are important as lung infections can cause symptoms to worsen.
