Yesterday, the Salazar family proudly represented RI at ZERO TO THREE's Strolling Thunder advocacy day at the U.S. Capitol. Thank you Senator Jack Reed, Sheldon Whitehouse, Congressman Gabe Amo + Congressman Seth Magaziner for meeting with the Salazar's to hear about policies babies + families need to thrive!

Congratulations Leanne Barrett of RI KIDS COUNT on being awarded the Elizabeth Burke Bryant Advocacy Award by the American Academy of Pediatrics, RI Chapter for your strong advocacy for babies & policies that improve health outcomes for children & families! 🎉RIght from the Start

THIS is why Rhode Island House of Representatives + Rhode Island Senate need to restore $1.1 million in funding for infant/toddler care that was left out of the proposed FY 2026 state budget. Need to retain our early childhood educators to keep infant classrooms open for working families! bostonglobe.com/2025/06/05/met…

We need better paid family leave in RI cranstononline.com/stories/we-nee… via Rhody Beat - "The paltry 60% wage reimbursement we have is wholly insufficient to sustain families during a time of medical crisis or the birth of a baby."

The RIght from the Start campaign thanks Speaker Joe Shekarchi, Senate President Valarie Lawson, and our champions in the Rhode Island House of Representatives and Rhode Island Senate for pushing for these important investments in child care and children's health!

Last night the Rhode Island Senate approved S-974 to improve paid family leave in RI by increasing the wage replacement rate, expanding the contribution base, and expanding the definition of family. Thank you Senate President Valarie Lawson for championing this important legislation!

Last week, the House Ed & Workforce Committee held a hearing on child care availability and affordability. Members on both sides of the aisle agreed Congress must support working families in accessing affordable, quality child care: ffyf.org/2025/06/25/hou… via First Five Years Fund
