In the Navajo language, they don't say "goodbye". It's too final, and doesn't fit with the circular feeling of Navajo spiritual life. Instead, they say "hagonee" (pronounced: Hah-go-neh) which roughly translates: be well, until I see you again. Hágoónee' Chinle!

Consolidation is on the rise in the $1.3 trillion hospital industry (6% of the nation’s GDP). 90% of hospital markets are now highly concentrated. The #antitrust agencies only challenged a small share (13/1000) of recent hospital mergers, even though many mergers predictably

How many EDs out there putting PREOXI trial in to practice by using a BVM with a peep valve + nc for preoxygenation rather than the bipap machine for logistics reasons? anyone just hooking a bipap mask up to a BVM? I love that idea

So if there are any lurking Hill staff who want to prep their principals to ask some questions about NIH funding there are a lot of concerned researchers who would welcome helping workshop those questions

This is a very good story on the uncertainty created by the disruption to NIH activity — and how the stakes are highest for the most junior scholars. There's also a submission form at the bottom to share your experiences if the pause has impacted you. statnews.com/2025/01/24/tru…

Sen. Hassan asked Kennedy to simply define Medicare Part A, B, C. The HHS pick stumbled through with incorrect answers. Kennedy said Medicare Part A is "mainly for primary care and physicians" (Part A is hospital insurance). For Part B: "For physicans and doctors." (Part B

If you are a health care researcher and the changes from Trump administration executive orders -- including today's website changes -- are affecting you, I'd love to hear from you.

It's difficult to reconcile President Trump's vow to "love and cherish" Medicaid with his endorsement of the House budget that would cut over $800 billion from the program. Cuts of that magnitude go well beyond eliminating fraud and abuse.

These are the illogical arguments being trotted out to defend taking health coverage away from millions. All despite an expansive literature finding myriad benefits of the Medicaid expansion, including saving many lives. nber.org/papers/w33719#… academic.oup.com/qje/article/13…

ctnewsjunkie.com/2025/05/07/doc… CT hospitals are testifying against this bill because they like making money. Capping costs is a good idea that will make health care more affordable and there is no actual evidence that it will close hospitals…they always argue that and it’s never true

To recap: Firms have been making people jump through endless hoops just to cancel a subscription, trapping Americans in needless bureaucracy and wasting their time & money. FTC began writing a “click-to-cancel” rule promoting efficient cancellation, a rulemaking process that
