I just want it on record that I *hate* writing literature reviews. I know they're necessary but why can't I just say "I promise I've read some stuff" #phdlife

So happy to be able to announce that in a couple of weeks I'm going to be hosted by Centre for Geopolitics and Eamonn O'Keeffe, as I speak on negotiated authority in the fencibles! Free attendance and all that, so would be lovely to see some friendly faces cfg.cam.ac.uk/events/contrac…

Life stuff (our car imploding) rather scuppered a phd-focused end to the week, but I absolutely loved going to Centre for Geopolitics to present on this aspect of my research. Massive thanks to Eamonn O'Keeffe for inviting/hosting me, and to Col John Baillie for this title quote

I know I've been rather little quiet on here of late. Rest assured I am doing just fine (even if juggling PhD, work, personal stuff, and hobbies is a lot). In a small update, however, I've officially pressed go on "my" part of the intent to submit - it's nearly over! #phdlife

So fun story. Because, in this country, a musket legally counts as a shotgun, NORTHERN 🚆 won't let me travel with one. Despite the fact that I'm not licensed for any ammunition, and that it'd be with me at all times. Everyone else does...what's up with that northern?

When writing, I recommend the 20-20 rule: 20 minutes of writing followed by 20 weeks doing new, unrelated projects you won't finish
