Seems a good time to post this again. Inclusion when effective saves the country millions of pounds for a relatively small initial outlay. Empty words with nothing else will lead to no change for young people passmorespedagogy.wordpress.com/2025/03/27/inc…

England has one of the shortest breaks in the world. Learning doesn’t suffer, otherwise children in many other countries wouldn’t be bilingual for starters. We shouldn’t conflate education with childcare; they’re not the same. The issue is a lack of clubs for children to do.

Sam Strickland Spot on Sam. There’s little problem here in Portugal where we live. Schools closed from end of June ( or thereabouts) Happy children with extended families; schools open to use facilities, manned by young people at or awaiting university, paid modestly but enjoying what they do.

UK School summer holidays are considerably less than both the bulk of Europe and the US, yet silly suggestions like this are still being in made. Here’s a thought: maybe find out what those countries do to make childcare possible? Wild idea, I know! #edutwitter

Teacher's Manual As a country we are built upon whinging endlessly. The rest of the world make this work, often with longer summers. It’s bordering embarrassing.

Normal people buy shoes twice a year. Runners buy shoes every 300-500 miles. Normal people sleep in on weekends. Runners wake up at 5am for long runs. Normal people think we're crazy. We think they're missing out.
