Reserve still closed following winter floods ☹️ will the rain ever stop?? The car park and the 4 mile public footpath following the outer perimeter of the reserve are however open. Osprey, brambling & black kite seen yesterday! Found by Mark Dawson photo by James Wilkinson

Our cunning plan is progressing nicely & we're aiming to re-open (albeit it partially - just the section of Trail between Beach Hut & Corfe Castle) on 22nd April from 10:00. After a frustrating 6 month closure it'll be great welcoming people back to Langford!! Photo James Wilkinson

Massive thank you to Graham and James Wilkinson for giving our info board a re-vamp 👍 Before and after shots below. Seen on site this week... Cattle Egrets, Bar-tailed Godwits, Cuckoo, lots of Swifts, 2 GWEs, Yellow Wagtails and Arctic Terns

Thanks to the wonderful drying weather, full Visitor Trail loop around Phase 1 is now open. Lots of hobbies on site, booming bittern, cuckooing cuckoo, cattle & GW egrets. Floating Bridge & Boardwalk still closed awaiting inspection & repair. Sedge warbler by Stuart Carlton

Just to confirm, there will be no access to our car park tomorrow (6th June) as the pot-holed track is being levelled & re-graded. Hopefully any inconvenience will be off-set by the smooth track awaiting you on your next visit. 400 swifts on site yesterday! Photo Stuart Carlton

Great news! After being closed for almost 10 months, the Floating Bridge and Boardwalk are now repaired and open again 🥂 Bittern photo Stuart Carlton

It's that time of year again... The Seasonal Trail opened last week and it's longer than ever before, looping around the whole of Silt Lagoon 7. Bittern, Marsh Harrier, Black-tailed Godwits, Great White Egret & Hobby have all been seen from the trail. GWE photo Stuart Carlton

Exciting egret news from Besthorpe, the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust site just downstream of Langford birdguides.com/news/first-bre… Photo below from Stuart Carlton of 5 cattle egrets at Langford earlier this year

Red-breasted merganser still on site (photo Stuart Carlton) and a new bench has been installed along the Seasonal Trail, a perfect spot from which to watch the wintering stonechats.

Fantastic news for RSPB & Tarmac yesterday when Langford Lowfields won the prestigious Cooper-Heyman cup for outstanding restoration at the MPA Quarries & Nature 2025 event NatureAfterMinerals RSPB Mineral Products Association Tarmac

Floating Bridge reattached today! So the full Trail around Phase 1 is now open . Loads of great birds over the last few days... wheatear, sand martins, glossy ibis (3 seen today!), spoonbill, marsh harrier, red kite, ruff, great white egrets & whoopers photo by Stuart Carlton
