Marsh harrier showing well with food pass over reedbed. Beautiful Red kite passed east over the reserve. Plenty of avocet and lapwing chicks on main scrape. The sunny weather has brought out lots of dragonflies and damselflies, perfect weather for an evening stroll. #sightings

Spoonbills are busy making their nest and a stork has flown over this afternoon. Sand martins are busy as usual. Lots of Knots are still around on the main scrape. #sightings

This morning we were spoilt by a White stork fly by and Spoonbill heading to the heronry. A pair of Marsh harriers did a food pass. Sedge, Reed and Cetti's warbler are singing. A Little ringed plover was spotted on the main scrape. Butterflies also showing well despite the breeze

Spoonbills have been very active and could be seen from bridge screen throughout the day. The flock of Knot are still hanging about on the main scrape. Forty avocet chicks on main scrape. Garganey spotted from bridge screen. #sightings

Swifts and Swallows swooping in the wind and the Spoonbills carrying on building their nest. Lots of lovely Avocet babies on the scrape. Happy Bank Holiday #sightings

Great day at the Reserve, beautiful tiger moths sheltering from the wind. Over a 1000 knots have been spotted today. The Spoonbills are still nesting and flying by. A Pectoral Sandpiper has been seen. Many swifts, swallows, house martins and sand martins flying in the wind.

Although wet and windy, it's been a good day for sightings. A pair of Little ringed plover on main scrape. Spoonbill still showing well from reedbed screen. Bar tailed godwit, Green woodpecker and Gadwall spotted. Scarlet tiger moth still hunkered down in the willow. #sightings

Earlier in the day there was a good sighting of a green woodpecker. Continued presence of avocets and their chicks, med gull is still sitting on the nest. Good day finished with great views of two marsh harriers over the main scrape and close views of a reed warbler. #sightings

Exciting to see a Peregrine over main scrape. Swifts, swallows, sand and house martins are providing an amazing aerial acrobatics display. Still plenty of chicks about. Turning into a lovely afternoon after a grey start. #sightings

Spoonbills showing well from border hide with a scope across to heronry. A Bar-tailed godwit in full breeding plumage from border hide seen amongst other godwit and around 600 knott. Also seen Egyptian geese with 10 cute goslings and two Great white egrets #sightings

Sunny and windy day on the Reserve, Osprey flew close to the Visitor Centre, Green Woodpecker spotted near Burton Point and many lovely Avocet chicks. Looking forward to another great day on the reserve tomorrow.

The first Bee orchid has been spotted not far from the Visitor centre along the path to Bunker hide. We've had a great view of the Spoonbill from the visitor centre too, feeding in the pool close to the Sand martin wall. Other highlights included Hobby and Kingfisher. #sightings

Sunny afternoon and happy news that the med gull has had some chicks. There has been a bar-tailed godwit on the scrape and the green woodpecker has been seen on the field near Burton Point. Swifts galore flying and swooping above the Visitor Centre.
