#LiveScienceAlert! #ROVJason is minutes away from being on bottom at the East Pacific Rise. They’ll be streaming live from the seafloor to the ship to a satellite to you until 8:30 Eastern tomorrow. Scripps scientists aboard the R/V Roger Revelle are live on YouTube as they sample hot vents at the East Pacific Rise. Led by Ross Parnell-Turner, they're monitoring the vents during the buildup to the next seafloor lava eruption, which is expected in a year or so: youtube.com/watch?v=d9Z2gW…

Tonight #ROVJason will visit a #vent called "Tica"...sounds tasty 🌶️, but the resident sea creatures might object. #LiveNow: until 11pm Pacific tonight, youtube.com/watch?v=JyXtzN… 🎥: Fornari & Mullineaux #NSFfunded R/V Roger Revelle Office of Naval Research (ONR) Scripps Institution of Oceanography

#ROVJason is #livestreaming 1.5 miles beneath the surface of the Pacific on the East Pacific Rise. Nice views of a chimney named Biovent if you tune in now. R/V Roger Revelle U.S. National Science Foundation Office of Naval Research (ONR) UNOLS #NSFfunded #ONR75 youtube.com/watch?v=JyXtzN…

Happening now: hydrothermal vent sampling! Scientists aboard the R/V Roger Revelle are live on YouTube all day as they explore vents along the East Pacific Rise. They're monitoring them in anticipation of the next seafloor lava eruption. Check it out here: youtube.com/watch?v=ohgWMn…

The team on R/V Roger Revelle have just discovered this intricate and active vent field w/ #ROVJason!

I answered a student’s question “how deep is the ocean?” from aboard R/V Roger Revelle. Thanks to Fleet Science Center for connecting curious minds to scientists Scripps Institution of Oceanography! youtu.be/2T5WC6ynkao

This paper was in the final stages of publication a few years later when I was on R/V Roger Revelle with Claire McKinley, PhD off New Zealand- lots of fun #ScienceAtSea conversations while we were at sea even if we were on different shifts! #WomenInSTEM Science-A-Thon #DayOfScience

In 2019, researchers and crew onboard R/V Sally Ride mapped a seamount located 1,000 miles southwest of Honolulu. 🚢 Now, that seafloor feature has been named in honor of the late Scripps Institution of Oceanography geophysicist Walter Munk! Check out this thread to learn about some amazing deep-sea research led by Anela Choy on R/V Roger Revelle last summer! 🚢 #FieldworkFriday ⬇️
