Sea-going scientist and staff member Melissa Truth Miller has been on over 40 research cruises, including many on R/V Sally Ride. Melissa said the late Sally Ride is one of her role models due to her work as an astronaut, physicist, and #STEM educator. "What an amazing life and career."

Two AUVs used were deployed to work in tandem to map the seabed at a high resolution. The robots adjust to changes in the topography flying at a constant 20 meters above the seafloor, using high frequency side-scan sonar to send signals 150 meters on each side of the vehicle.
