Since Jan 2024, when Juno's calf was first seen with severe propeller injuries consistent with a #VesselStrike, there has been concern it would not survive. Last week, the calf was reported deceased. More: bit.ly/3Ish9xQ #AndersonCabotCenter #RightWhales

The 20th #NorthAtlanticRightWhale calf of the '23-'24 season has been spotted! 💙 Right whale mom "Pico" (#3270), identified by #AndersonCabotCenter scientists, was seen off the VA coast on June 1, with a previously unknown calf. Research: HDR Inc., under NMFS permit #21482

Another critically endangered North Atlantic right whale has been found suffering from a severe entanglement in what appears to be fishing gear. This male, known oddly as Dropcloth, was found in Canada's Gulf of St. Lawrence, according to Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
