Today was Zoo Day at the State House, and the Roger Williams Park Zoo brought some of their "animal ambassadors" to visit. I was very honored to be recognized by the Zoo, along with my colleagues Rep. Scott Slater and Julie Casimiro, for our support.

Cathartes, the turkey vulture, is striking a pose! A horaltic pose that is. This stance, known as the "horaltic pose", helps vultures thermoregulate and dry off any damp feathers after cool evenings by soaking in the sun's UV rays. 📸 Keeper Courtney

It’s #WorldGiraffeWeek & we’re sticking our necks out to celebrate our planet’s tallest land mammal! DYK: 🦒Each giraffe’s spot pattern is totally unique, like a fingerprint! 🦒Their tongues are super long (18-20 inches!) 🦒 A group of #giraffes is called a tower.
