AWFUL scenario. Border Patrol agents raided a car wash and arrested a DACA recipient working there. He has a REAL ID, but they didn't even let him show his ID, they just grabbed him and threw him in a van. He was then detained for a MONTH before getting bond.

I started reading Omar El Akkad's One Day Everyone Will Have Been Against This today and I've been unable to stop. It is deeply moving, human and a seering indictment of western liberalism. Strongly recommend.

Today, the folks The New Atlantis have lifted the paywall on the new installment in "How the System Works"--my series about the systems that undergird our days, that have vastly improved life for billions of people, and that--arrgh!--we seem to be forgetting about paying attention to.

Empty words cannot hide the truth: your government is complicit in genocide. We are an unstoppable movement for peace, for justice and for Palestine — and we are never, ever going away.

OnOpportunity Zones, by David Neumark TL;DR: place-based policy doesn't predictably address the problems of people in a given place, especially when it's in a place where people can easily come and go! 1/

🪂 Airdrop: 5–15 tons 🚚 One truck: 15–25 tons 🚚🚚 20-truck convoy: 300–500 tons 🇺🇳 Needed to avert famine: 2,000–5,000 tons/day ⛑️ Airdrops are for remote, inaccessible areas—not places with open land borders. This is humanitarian camouflage. It is a continuation of genocide.
