The autism community has lost a journalist, advocate, & friend who educated & enlightened many about the history of autism & the neurodiversity movement, incl. re: how it includes & serves the needs of ppl w/ high support needs. He had unfinished business & so much love & fight.

This is exactly it. Steve treated us as human beings. As writers with our own legitimate voices. The moment he published Neurotribes, Steve Silberman actively searched out autistic writers to promote. He made it a point to say we belonged in the writing community.
