Our culture loves telling stories, and having stories told to us When those stories are about products that are highly contextual, subjective and vaiable in effect, designed for daily consumption over a span of years, it’s important that we engage those stories thoughtfully

The UK government's decision to prescribe SSRI antidepressants to sexual offenders to suppress their sexual desire is the clearest admission yet (by the establishment) of how profoundly these drugs impair sexual functioning.

Older adults are often prescribed antipsychotics off-label for behavioral control in the hospital. But there’s no evidence for antipsychotics helping, and a great deal of evidence of harm. By Peter Simons madinamerica.com/2025/06/elderl…

So many of us in America are suffering right now-- but is this a "mental health crisis," or something else? I dive into this question, my new book, Unshrunk, and more in this Tucker Carlson Network interview with Tucker Carlson. Gosh, what a meaningful chat. So grateful for the opportunity.

"Wouldn't it be the norm that some people, when exposed to a chemical long-term, may actually develop some form of brain injury or cognitive damage from it?" Dr. Josef Witt-Doerring (Dr. Josef šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø) asks why people assume that psychiatric drugs don't permanently damage cognition.

I fear the ideology of 'pluralism' is now being misused in psychiatry to preserve the status quo - e.g. accommodating conflicting theories without questioning dominant power structures or paradigms; effectively neutralising the impact of more radical or transformative approaches.

ā€œJustin, I used to have romantic ideas about mental illness too, until I worked in an asylum.ā€ Why do people always say this? They know I spent my formative years in and out of these places, first visiting my dad and then being locked up myself. It’s what fuels my work.

Instead of staffing clozapine and depot clinics, mental health nurses could establish deprescribing services and programs aimed at informing and supporting people to safely and carefully reduce and potentially completely cease their psychotropic drugs. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/in…
