MAVC trustee Mark Carrick on his visit to #France last week visited the #Normandy #American Cemetery and Memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer, and laid a #remembrance #cross on-behalf of MAVC. 1st Lt Eugene.L. Rosner #USAAF 106 Sqn ED720 ZN-R KIA 9.7.1943 flying from RAF Syerston.

Next week marks the 80th anniversary of Operation MARKET GARDEN, which took place between the 17th and 25th September 1944. In total, over two hundred soldiers of the Glider Pilot Regiment lost their lives. Many more were captured or wounded during the battle.

At the weekend our Lancaster appeared at the RAF Battle of Britain Reception skimming over the Golden Sunset at Portrush as a fantastic opener for the NI International Air Show 🌅✈️ #lancaster #flypast #NorthernIreland #Portrush #battleofbritain

Some of our textile #artefacts have been delivered to Conservation at University of Lincoln to enable surface cleaning to be carried out. This is only possible with #support from Art Fund, Arts Council England and MDM as MAVC has been awarded an #Open #Grant. More on this project to come soon.

That’s our display complete for day two of the Battle of Britain Airshow at IWM Duxford, and once again we were able to share the skies with Sally B, the B-17 Flying Fortress. Thank you to the Sally B team for helping us capture this footage over the airshow! ✈️
