The TANF program has been Art Handy's top priority since he's been in Rhode Island House of Representatives. He was a force behind long-overdue rate increases and adjustments in the 2022/2023 state budgets for R.I. Works, the state’s cash-assistance and work-readiness program for low-income families.

RI Works, our cash assistance program, should be able to use more of the TANF Block Grant. Especially when we have over $52 million dollars sitting in reserve, while children are living in deep poverty.
