Last week I travelled to the stunning Amalfi coast in Italy to become the 17th recipient of the Vincenzo Ferraro award for young researchers in plasma physics. This includes my PhD research in CmPA and Observatory.be, and post-doc in UTU Physics and Astronomy.

There’s a (so far) minor solar radiation storm in progress. It’s related to an Earth directed CME. Since the >10-MeV proton flux is still increasing, the shock driven by the CME appears to be strong. A severe geomagnetic storm has been forecasted, fitting the proton observations.
