I don’t know who needs to hear this, but the experience your students have in rehearsal everyday is more important than the rating you receive at festival. By all means, strive for excellence. But more importantly, teach your students that making music together is a joyful.

I can’t speak for every single band kid who ever existed, but… Outside of Band, I was a wallflower, an outcast, and I never spoke. In Band, I learned that I had a voice, I belonged, and I could be mighty. Music changes people. Music matters. ☮️❤️🎵 #music

When I joined band, I got an instrument. When I finished band, I had an instrument, friends for a lifetime, mentors, work ethic, goals, and the ability to overcome any obstacle. Music Education Matters.

At the airport today, I was waiting for my bag and the person next to me kept checking every small black bag, presumably to see if it was theirs. I get that. Many look quite similar. They finally picked up their bag. It was bright yellow. I think this pretty much sums up air
