Quick update on rain/showers on Saturday. Still on track to see some - maybe similar amounts to yesterday. Some of the weather models show higher amounts while others have less. Rain looks to come late AM into the PM hours. #wawx #whatcomcounty

THE ERUPTION OF THE YEAR! We're awaiting coronagraph imagery to see the solar storm produced by this large-scale solar eruption, but there is an expectation some of this could be Earth-directed. In addition to being a large-scale eruption, there's signs of it being fast,

Sky on fire tonight at sunset! This rural view from Wiser Lake Road was surreal yet extraordinary as the sun made its final descent over this beautiful farm. Ferndale, WA #wawx #whatcomcounty

A CME has impacted L1 just now with a speed > 1000 km/s... one of the fastest CME shocks I have ever seen. Bz is negative but may jump around as we likely transition through the CME sheath. Bt may ramp up more over the night. If you have clear, dark skies, prepare.

So tonight looks to be the night for aurora as a strong CME arrival has been detected—storm levels should increase to moderate or strong (Kp=6/7) almost immediately over the next hour with possibly stronger conditions to occur overnight.

😍Even with clouds, the Aurora is absolutely gorgeous! We went down to the south end of Lake Whatcom to get a few snaps in before preparing for a even later night tomorrow 🌌🤩 #wawx #sonorthwest #pnw #Auroraborealis #Aurora #Nightsky #cloudy #stars

Sky conditions tonight look much better tonight for possible viewing of the aurora. Few higher clouds will build in up north, and lower clouds will fill in early morning in the Cascades/coast. Visit SWPC for latest space weather conditions: swpc.noaa.gov #wawx

At least #aurora is getting stronger in the skies over North Dakota, USA, but it is still very diffuse and "misty." If the #solarstorm continues with southward field for a bit longer, we just might start seeing some nice shows during these substorm brightenings!

Morning! Good news, our crews made up to SR 542 the road to Artist Point to clear the last 2.7 miles of snow! Recreationalists are allowed in the area but do so at their own risk. This is an active work zone. Stay clear of crews as they work! More updates:wsdot.com/travel/real-ti…
