(7/n) Clay, an amorphous solid, develops cracks as it dries over time. Ranjini Bandyopadhyay investigated the pattern in which cracks appear, mapping the rapidly deforming regions, & how the onset of cracks is accelerated by addition of common salt that alters the tensile strength of clay.
