BREAKING: President Biden announced he’s formally establishing an American Climate Corps!!! This a major victory for our movement, our generation, and our fight for a Green New Deal. Here’s what it means: 🧵

“Everything is so expensive, and people are working harder and harder and harder, and they’re working longer hours. But when is it enough? I wish more people could understand this fight is not just for us, but it’s for everybody.” theguardian.com/us-news/2023/s…

It is irresponsible of the media to do a one-on-one interview with Trump. It is irresponsible to believe that Trump is capable of rational discussion. The danger he poses to democracy is not just that he lies. It’s that he does nothing but lie. bit.ly/48kax0n

The Big 3 Automakers have spent $66 billion on stock buybacks and dividends over the decade. That amounts to roughly $440k for each of the ~150,000 workers covered by UAW collective bargaining agreements. And we’re supposed to believe they can’t afford to pay workers more?

What's in the House GOP's latest funding bills? -An 80% cut in grants to schools in low-income areas -Up to 70% cut in the fruit and veggie benefits for the WIC food program -A $665 million cut to an EPA safe drinking water access program The cruelty is the point.

GOP megadonor Paul Singer flew Justice Alito on his private jet for a secret luxury fishing trip. Wouldn't you know it, Singer's hedge fund holds a $90M stake in financial companies that could benefit from a SCOTUS ruling on the CFPB. The SCOTUS ethics crisis is out of control.

Once again, President Biden did not indict Trump. Trump was indicted by multiple grand juries of ordinary people who found the evidence against him strong enough to charge him with multiple felonies. His prosecution isn't an act of partisanship, it's a defense of our democracy.

Never forget this: The GOP’s nonsensical culture war is meant to distract you from corporate corruption, worker oppression, and staggering wealth inequality.

Some worry about the effect of strikes on the U.S. economy, and view organized labor as a “special interest” demanding too much. Rubbish. Labor activism has proven good for the economy in the long run. And labor is not a “special interest" — it is, in a real sense, all of us.

75% of Americans support the UAW strike Understand, she knows what she’s saying is unpopular with everyday people She isn’t saying this for voters, she’s saying this to signal to mega donors that she’s willing to publicly go against the people in favor of the billionaires

Yesterday PA's governor announced automatic voter registration in the Keystone State. Today, NY's governor signed a law giving every citizen in the Empire State the right to vote by mail. It's a good week for voting rights.

In 1981, Ronald Reagan fired thousands of striking air traffic controllers. Tim Scott says this was a “great example” of how to treat workers on strike. Is this what we should expect from the “party of the working class?”

A government shutdown means Americans won’t get the services they depend on. Federal workers won’t get their paychecks. People’s livelihoods will be upended. But none of this matters to Republicans in Congress. They care only about power. Never about people.

The richest 1% took home nearly twice as much wealth as the rest of the world put together over the past two years. If that doesn’t convince you wealth inequality is out of control, I don’t know what will.

Strikes aren’t bad for the US economy. They’re the best thing that could happen. Here's why: theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

MAGA Republicans are trying to make working families pay for their tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations. THAT'S why they're threatening to shut down the government. #MAGATaxScam

Here's the truth about tax cuts for the rich. They explode the federal debt, fuel giant profits at the biggest firms and financial institutions, and stoke a surge in billionaire wealth but do nothing for average working people. Nothing trickles down.
