Congratulations all π and to Alalea on winning the Sir George Macfarlane Medal & Young Engineer of the Year award 2024 for developing permeable pavement Kiacrete, to mitigate the devastating impact of urban flooding from stormwater Royal Academy of Engineering #water imperial.ac.uk/news/254698/roβ¦
We presented a poster & paper on our work with Omar Matar, Petit Materials Lab, Andrius Patapas & Jason Stafford at the IOM3βs 43rd Cement & Concrete Science Conference at Queen's University Belfast π. Alperen's presentation received significant interest & we look forward to presenting more in the future.
Five early-career engineers received the RAEng Engineers Trust Young Engineer of the Year award this year, with the overall winner Alalea receiving the Sir George Macfarlane Medal for her work with Resilient Sustainable Infrastructure Group. Get to know her: raeng.org.uk/programmes-and⦠#RAEngAwards
Great to be interviewed among prominent scientists & engineersπ§βπ¬π·this week The Naked Scientists. Really enjoyed discussing the different ways engineers are tackling the climate crisis & how our Resilient Sustainable Infrastructure Group puddle-free pavement research can play a part in addressing this challenge.
Action packed day at #HighwaysUK! Great to see many familiar faces and meet new people. Lots of great interactions and questions during my talk. It was such a privilege to be invited to give a talk at Highways UK and thank you for inviting me to talk again next year!
We had a great day at the 10 yr Department for Transport & Connected Places Catapult #TRIG showcase event in Birmingham. We demonstrated our #Kiacrete puddle-free pavement to Mike Kane MP & Sarah Sharples. It was exciting to see them testing Kiacrete! Thank you Resilient Sustainable Infrastructure Group for your help & ongoing research
What a great 2024 throwback - five early-career engineers received the RAEng Engineers Trust Young Engineer of the Year award in July. We've had a great first day The UK Concrete Show with 2D Nano, Andrius Patapas and Resilient Sustainable Infrastructure Group at stand D34. Lots of good discussions & interest in graphene enhanced concrete & our puddle-free #Kiacrete pavement. Looking forward to day 2 & delivering a spotlight session talk tomorrow.
Day 2 The UK Concrete Show was another busy day. I enjoyed presenting at the spotlight session & sharing recent #Kiacrete developments. Thank you Andrius Patapas, Resilient Sustainable Infrastructure Group & Craig Buchanan for making this event a success. Looking forward to following up on new discussions & next events.
We had a busy evening yesterday at our #Kiacrete stand Imperial College London Lates: Future Cities event. Thank you to everyone from the Resilient Sustainable Infrastructure Group who made last night possible. #FloodResilience #PuddleFree
We had a great day sharing the latest #Kiacrete developments with the public Great Exhibition Road Festival Imperial College London. We had over 500 people testing Kiacrete and look forward to many more tomorrow. Many thanks to the members of the Resilient Sustainable Infrastructure Group and Robotic Additive Manufacturing Lab.
Thank you to everyone that came to see us Great Exhibition Road Festival Imperial College London. We broke our previous record, with well over a 1,000 people testing #Kiacrete this weekend. All of the members of the Resilient Sustainable Infrastructure Group & Robotic Additive Manufacturing Lab have worked very hard this weekend with highlights below.
Wonderful to attend the Royal Academy of Engineering #INWED Leadership Lunch 2025. The key takeaways were: be bold in initiating conversations & connections, nurture connections, use the power of engineering to build a strong network & do not be afraid to be judged. #INWED25 #TogetherWeEngineer
We had a fantastic #Outreach event yesterday hosting #GlobalSummerSchool students in the Imperial Civil and Environmental Engineering Imperial College London. Great to see them plan, design & build their bridges. Many thanks to everyone helping on the day. #STEM #Engineering #Outreach
