I have studied what makes an effective ideological leader—both violent and nonviolent—since my dissertation that was on their use of power & style of influence. Killer Mike’s thinking & speaking style suggest he could lead a long term successful org to affect real change 1/n

Wanted to share a brief conversation I had today with Rodney Wead, a prominent Omaha civil rights leader in the 1960s. (He’s also Bob Gibson’s best friend). Rodney was my biggest ally on 24th & Glory & one of the most insightful people I know. 1/

Cutting local news is a threat to national security. Allowing private platforms (like this one, sorry) to be our only source of news is a fundamental mistake & overlooks the role that community expertise plays in keeping us safe and providing checks on government. Alarm sounded👇🏻

Every week, NE Gov. Pete Ricketts receives a detailed report from the WH covid task force. Along with stats, it includes state-specific recommendations for fighting the virus. Neither the White House nor governor have opted to share these publicly. So I put in a records request.

A Nebraska lawmaker told a fellow Omaha mother she “belongs in a straitjacket” for paying childcare costs. Same issue five ago when I wrote this. This is a huge economic issue facing families... and more expensive than the property taxes we hear so much about.

Well-deserved honors for Omaha World-Herald and World-Herald Photo who maintained their dogged pursuit of the truth through some of the most difficult circumstances of this past year to produce beautiful, sometimes heartbreaking work.

Great soccer action yesterday in the Nebraska high school state tournament. Skutt Catholic brought the heat with a 10-0 victory over Plattview, including this first-half goal by Andrew Davidson.
