120 days later, #Lalibela is freed from the invading forces of TPLF. It is heartening to hear that many places in Amhara and Afar are also freed from the TPLF. I cannot wait to talk to family and friends. There are some I will never see again.

As an author, I’m always so grateful when reviewers go deep into my book. Thank you to @Watts_Writes for digging into the central theme of grief. Hidden within the history, magic and mischief, grief is really what I wanted to explore. Thank you @WesterlyMag!

Just finished watching Brittany Higgins and George speak at #NPC. Cried and felt heartbroken and buoyed all at once. Thank you both - you stand on the shoulders of giants, but you have become giants yourselves.

One of the best things I get to do as an author is run workshops with teens and talk about Alemayehu. May his remains be returned to Ethiopia soon.

Thrilled that my story ā€˜The Pyrocene’ has been longlisted in the The West Australian Best Australian Yarn competition. It’s a story about love, language and fire. šŸ”„

On Friday I attended the The West Australian award ceremony for Australia’s Best Yarn and discovered I made the Top 10! 🤯 Top 10, out of 5500 stories. $1000. And a pretty piece of glass. I still can’t believe it. Thank you so so much! I can’t articulate how much this means to me.
