SURPRISE! Yesterday, an unsuspecting Caroline Lucas left Parliament to encounter a crowd of many of the people who have worked for her down the years! 🧵

Can you imagine celebrating energy bills being over £400 higher than they were before the crisis began? That is what Rishi Sunak is doing. The Conservatives have no plans to cut energy bills for families. Only Labour can bring down bills for good.

I am incredibly proud that Sir Patrick Vallance has endorsed Labour's mission for clean power by 2030. Take it from the person who delivered the vaccine- Labour has a bold and credible plan to cut bills and make Britain independent. thetimes.co.uk/article/9072cc…

The last government did a great thing setting the world's 1st legal target to halt wildlife decline, but we're not on track to meet it. We're using the law as intended: to ensure whichever party wins the election has a credible plan to stop the decline. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

There's actually a longer-term positive to the Tories desperately cosplaying the climate denial of Reform/Tufton St lobbyists... ...if they lose big to Labour, as polls suggest, it will mean there will be a solid electoral mandate in UK for *ramping up* action on climate change

This weekend more than 80,000 people marched on the streets of London to DEMAND BETTER for climate and nature. Climate is clearly a KEY CONCERN for the British public - yet it has BARELY FEATURED in the debates ahead of the General Election. When will politicians HEAR US?

The book 'Doughnut Economics' opens with the story of Yuan Yang who, as a young economics student back in 2008, was challenging the outdated theory she was being taught. Last night she was elected as the first-ever MP for Earley & Woodley. Huge congratulations Yuan Yang !

This government was elected with a mandate to take immediate action to boost Britain's energy independence. The onshore wind ban is a symbol of how bad decisions in the last fourteen years have put up energy bills for families. Today, it ends. gov.uk/government/pub…

If we are serious about change and in Britain making things again, we are going to have to ditch the phony fiscal rules of the last Government.

I would like to politely disagree with Paul Johnson's argument on net worth/PSNFL. In short, liquidity is not the sole - or even a crucial - factor regarding whether gov can borrow against assets. Illiquid assets can matter financially & contribute to economic strength. (1/6)

Fascinating insights from Steve Akehurst and IPPR here showing how ingrained ideas about what the public want may not actually be based on public opinion. A must-read for all MPs.
