Great event on Islamophobia at the Indian Workers' Association HQ in Handsworth. It was from this very poor Black and Asian community that thousands of pounds were raised to support striking miners in 1984. Funds and food were sent to miners across the Midlands and South Wales.

That solidarity was returned when Asian women at Kewal Brothers factory (Smethwick) went on strike against an Asian boss who made them work in sweatshop conditions. 150 miners from Staffordshire with barely enough money to feed their families hired coaches to stand in solidarity.
