September 11, 2001 is a day that we will never forget. I continue to extend my sincere gratitude to the brave men and women who have since served to protect our country. Thank you for everything that you have, and will continue, to do to keep us safe.

The International Day of Democracy provides an opportunity to review the state of democracy in the world and how it can be made into a reality to be enjoyed by everyone. House Democrats will always stand for the freedom, dignity, and opportunity that democracy provides.

Gun violence cannot be allowed to define our communities… When gunfire pierces our streets, it overshadows everything else. It robs us of joy, safety, and connection. This is not inevitable. It is a policy choice.

Thank you State Representative Christine Cockley for shedding more light on this story. The state legislature is failing to act and my community is suffering because of it. We need to pass gun safety bills and get out of the way so that local governments can step in to protect their people.

This week I celebrated Ohio’s agrotech industry with JewishColumbus, spoke with Holocaust survivors and was moved by their powerful stories, and stood with advocates for fair maps. I am grateful for the community and the ongoing fight for progress!

Busy few weeks! I recently met with AFL-CIO members to discuss labor priorities, visited the Ohio Emergency Operations Center, and joined the ribbon cutting for the opening of Fieldstone Cottages. Grateful for the chance to see this important work happening across our state.

As September comes to an end, I want to highlight National Kinship Care Month. I am grateful to the grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and other family members who take on this responsibility to ensure children grow up with love, care, and support.

Today I wear red to support my alma mater and public schools across Ohio, as Lexington teachers fight for a fair contract. Our students and educators deserve better than underfunded classrooms, rising property taxes, and political attacks that push teachers out of the profession.

Today Rep. Ritter and I testified on our bipartisan resolution, HR 227, urging the DOJ to fully connect national missing persons databases. This step is critical to help law enforcement act quickly and accurately in missing persons cases.

Honored to have my friend, Rabbi Yoni Nadiv, deliver today’s opening prayer in the House. His call for unity, justice, and respect is a powerful reminder of the values we must uphold in this chamber and beyond. Thank you, Rabbi Yoni!

With millions visiting our state parks and Lake Erie each year, protecting Ohio’s natural beauty is more important than ever. Today, @twrader and I testified on HB 399 to stop drilling and fracking and keep these spaces safe for generations.

October is ADHD Awareness Month. I have ADHD, and while it shapes how I work and think, it’s also part of what makes me creative and driven. This month, let’s change how we think about ADHD and support those who live with it every day.
