Donald Trump came to Congress this morning to try to secure votes for his billionaire tax breaks. I won't vote for anything that sacrifices Americans' health and nutrition — which this bill does by slashing Medicaid and SNAP.

Today, Secretary Rubio sat before the Foreign Affairs Committee. I implored him to do more for Gazans. To do more with our humanity. Gaza is starving as food sits right across the border. We cannot stand idly by.

The Department of Education was founded so that every child could get a quality education — regardless of zip code. This administration seeks to shutter it. Secretary McMahon’s legacy will be one that hurts the future of our students.

Not sure why Rep. Brian Mast tried to ignore my question about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. But I *did* ask a question — and the American people got an answer. I hope and pray Sec. Rubio's answer was true, and that aid begins flowing into Gaza now.

Today, House Republicans passed a bill that sacrifices critical programs for millions of everyday Americans to pay for another tax cut for the rich. My full statement:

The Urban League of Philadelphia advocates for everyone in our region to have the opportunity to thrive. I was glad to join them for a wide-ranging conversation on how to improve resources in marginalized communities, including infrastructure and workforce development.

On Memorial Day, we remember our fallen service members and honor their sacrifice. Their commitment to protecting our nation and its freedom is incomparable. May we take this day to reflect and remember, with gratitude, their legacy.

Secretary Rubio is our nation’s top diplomat. Yet he failed to justify massive budget cuts to the State Department and USAID — which act as our voice around the world. Americans deserve better from our leaders.
