Hurricane Helene’s heartache and devastation were unimaginable, yet the resilience of the NC spirit is unbreakable. The local Walmart in Asheville, which was destroyed, is open once again. Western NC is rebuilding lives and renewing a sense of community.

Mudslides, washouts, and significant challenges have affected communities in western North Carolina. The damage is extensive, and the recovery process will be long. However, the people in the West are resilient and are not facing this alone.

Hurricane Helene has significantly impacted our western North Carolina farmers, including those at Hickory Nut Gap Farm in Fairview. We must support our farmers by offering the necessary disaster assistance to recover, rebuild, and grow.
