Last night @ midnight was the deadline to pass HBs or they would die With less than a minute left I passed HB 5520—to bring educational, infrastructure & 21st century enhancements to our border communities I will always fight for my constituents until the clock runs out!#txlege

Glad to have helped pass common-sense bail reform that balances due process rights with public safety. Also proud to have worked with my colleagues in blocking a proposal that would be unconstitutional, harm due process, & be purely repetitious, redundant & repetitive. #txlege

HB 3520 would lower insurance req’s for cars engaged in the commercial transporting of people. Texans deserve to be made whole when accidents happen. This bill puts people at risk & favors biz models built on expediency over safety. That is why this is a 1 star bill! #txlege

This Memorial Day, we honor the brave souls who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Without their courage, we would not be the beacon of freedom that we are today.

Glad to have chatted with Liz Crampton of POLITICO about what Democrats need to do to move forward in Texas. “Taking Latinos for granted is a mistake Democrats will never make again—It’s a mistake we can’t afford to ever make again.”

This is NOT Mexico. Our veterans fought & died for our Constitution. The Constitution protects due process & the presumption of innocence. That must never change. That’s why I stand against SJR 87. Our rights aren’t mere suggestions—they’re the foundation of justice.#txlege

“There is a special place in hell for the individuals who are responsible for the crimes that we’re speaking about here today,” Rep Gámez, said. “I am fearful of the special place that we’re going to find ourselves in if we continue to stray away from the Constitution.” #txlege

Rep. Gámez said the proposal would be, “an unfunded mandate on our already overcrowded jails. Border communities that are taking the brunt of this are receiving absolutely no extra compensation to handle this burden the rest of the state only talks about & doesn’t see.” #txlege
