On this Flag Day and the 250th Birthday of the US Army, let us remember the sacrifices the soldiers of the US Army have made to defend our nation. Thank you to all in our community who are or have served in the US Army on this day where we celebrate you and the flag we revere.

My prayers are with Rep. Hortman, Sen. Hoffman, their families, & the people of MN. Violence, particularly political violence, has no place in our society. Despite our differences, we must stand united in condemning such barbarism that threatens the viability of our democracy.

On this Father’s Day, I feel very fortunate to have great dads in my life – my father Moorthy and my father-in-law Sundar – who have been a great example for me as a parent for my children. Happy Father’s Day to you and all the dads in our community.

Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists are critical health professionals. We have a shortage in our state. Today, my legislation with Rep. Marcell, to allow PA to enter the interstate compact for audiology and speech-language pathology passed unanimously out of committee.

Black maternal mortality is tragically high in Pennsylvania. I am proud to be a member of the PA Black Maternal Health Caucus and have joined a press conference calling for the Pennsylvania Momnibus package of bills to address this crisis.

I was very happy today to meet with members of the IBEW to talk about the response to the recent storms and their important role in restoring service. I was grateful to learn from those who do the hard work on how we can do better in the future.

Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Let us continue to celebrate the freedom of the Black community and resolve to continue to advocate for liberty for all.

Happy First Day of Summer!

Earlier this week I had the privilege to meet with students from across Pennsylvania participating in Keystone Boys State, a program to educate young people on state government. Thank you for your engagement in the political process, and best wishes in the program and with your studies.

Before returning to Harrisburg where we will work to pass the state budget, it was great to door knock in Ohio Twp. From my discussions, I will advocate for public education, Medicaid, and public transit funding in the budget. Thanks to all for your time. My statement below:

Today, I joined bipartisan leaders and members of the public to support the PA Rare Disease Advisory Council. As a physician-legislator, I am proud to support this critical work to support the health of my fellow Pennsylvanians.

Today is the 3rd Anniversary of the Dobbs decision overturning a federal constitutional right to obtain an abortion. Now that this issue has returned to the state political process, as a physician-legislator, I am committed to preserving abortion rights in Pennsylvania.

Today my bill with Rep. Craig Williams to ensure the Military Family Education Program is renewable for members of the Pennsylvania National Guard who choose to continue their service advanced to the full Senate for consideration. Thank you to all members of the National Guard for your service.
