Filling up the tank... or the trunk! ⛽️ DYK? Elephants have preferences regarding the quality of the water they drink! We've seen first-hand that they prefer water from wells over muddy water and there's an interesting reason for it: reteti.org/blog/why-eleph… #reteti

La Dolce Vita 🤌🏾 Who needs rules when you can follow your heart? This little one shows us that sometimes you’ve just got to go all in and soak up life’s simple joys. ✨ Wise beyond their years, these baby elephants!

In Samburu culture, an elder greets a child by placing the palm of their right hand lightly on the head – a gesture of blessing. Ngaremara is by no means an elder, she is blessing Albert in her own way, passing goodness to him, a reminder that love & care transcend species. 🐘✨

Hi Patrick Collison, thank you for making it easy for our followers to gift milk bottles or adopt an elephant. Your support helps us care for 34 orphans & the 13 we released in June. Could we explore waiving the 3% fee? Every bit counts for the future of the project & the community. 🐘

While we’re all waiting for the first rains of the season, Long’uro’s taken matters into his own hands... or rather, trunk! In his world, it’s always raining – opportunities, second chances, blessings.. A lovely reminder for us all to make your own rain when you need it most.

It may look as if these young giraffes are fighting – but it’s actually just good ol’ hI-jinks and horseplay for our little long-necked friends!

We’re less than a month away from celebrating the 5th anniversary of our Milk to Market program–an initiative that not only provides nourishment for our elephants but has also transformed the lives of the Samburu community by creating gainful employment for over 1,200 Milk Mamas.

Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed! When the six Somali ostriches who've been keeping us on our toes for a year recently left Reteti to start a new life, everyone wanted to join their long-legged walk! To read more about their journey and relocation, head to the link in our bio.

You might want to step out of the way before these towering titans begin their sparring match! 🥊 By the age of 7, these young Reticulated Giraffe males will have gotten enough training -one of the many key markers of these endangered animals being able to return to the wild! 🌍

Into the bush we go!…🐘🌱 ‘Elephant school’ takes on many forms here! The elephants learn to browse, find seed pods, follow one another and even camouflage, but always with one of their beloved Reteti keepers nearby.
