Had fun talking about tomato #plasmodesmata to a room full of structural biologists at the Understanding Life in Molecular Detail retreat! It's amazing to see people realize what kind of impact structural research can have in terms of food security!

We can now plant over 700 near-single Arabidopsis seeds per plate with a modified Ender 3 (~$200) 3D printer, the AraPrinter. Next, we will combine the AraPrinter1.0 with the 3D printer-based imaging system, Imag3D, to track germination with high temporal resolution. Stay tuned.

Resuming #Plant_Cell_Biology_Movie series for Fall 2022 with a cool movie from the Facette lab. Here, in maize subsidiary mother cell, polarized protein PAN1 (magenta) provides direction and asymmetric cell division (microtubule as green) happens based on that direction.
