There’s a nuanced view to be had on Tory party conference overall narrative on health + healthcare (more later). But the commitment to a generational ban on smoking is excellent news for health and for health inequalities. I hope Govt and Parliament move v quickly with the law.

I worked in SoS office when smoking ban happened in 2000s. So I know first hand this stuff is hard to get over the line. Well done to the officials, advisers, ministers, VCSE leaders who have fought for this. It’s not over till it’s the law but I hope Parliament will act quickly.
