Our 1st day Kyoto University included rounds with Dr. Matsuda, seeing some of Kyoto's innovative research on biomaterials & 3D printing, and touring the Center for iPS Research and Application. The day would not be complete without a bowl of late-night ramen! AOA1887 @MUOrthopaedic

Our 2nd day Kyoto University incl. visiting Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion) & Kiyomizu-dera temples. Kyoto is a modern city that embraces its history. We also presented our research Kyoto University. We then ended the evening w/ traditional festivities. AOA1887 MU School of Medicine @MUOrthopaedic

We left Kyoto and headed by shinkansen to Yokohama for The 96th JOA Annual Meeting joa2023.jp/en/welcome/. We are grateful to Prof. Matsuda and Prof. Kawai for their hospitality during our time Kyoto University. We passed Mt. Fuji on the way to Yokohama. AOA1887

The opening ceremony for the #JOA was amazing. We were treated to a depiction of a famous story from the Okayama prefecture, which is the home of Congress President Prof. Toshifumi Ozaki 岡山大学. The meeting theme is “Quest for Science, Spirit and Skills.” AOA1887 #AOAJOA

We had a great day arranged by our #JOA hosts visiting Kamakura w/ our guide Naiomi. It was once the ancient capital of Japan. We visited several shrines and temples incl. Kotokuin, Hasedra, & Hachimangu. The day ended with the Presidential Dinner hosted by Dr. Ozatki. AOA1887

We arrived for our visit 【公式】徳島大学（Tokushima University）. We were treated to a tour of Naruto Whirlpools which forms between the moving water from the Seto Inland and Pacific by Prof. Koichi Sairyo 【公式】徳島大学（Tokushima University）. AOA1887

A theme on the #JOA tour is the innovative research on different local tumor therapy to prevent recurrences. This is an interesting one from Dr. Nishisho 【公式】徳島大学（Tokushima University） on anti-tumor activity of blue LED. Tokushima is also known for its artisan indigo blue dye! AOA1887 #AOA-JOA

Two of my favorite street foods I had from Osaka. Okonomiyaki and takoyaki (made of squid) are quick and delicious! I was also mesmerized by how quick and efficient takoyaki was made. The takoyaki was from the Dotonbori district in Osaka. #AOA-JOA AOA1887
