6:51 pm Tuesday..very heavy rain continues to fall across parts of Dallas county. Some locations have received over 3" of rain. The storms are moving SE at 15 mph. A gradual decrease in the intensity of the rain will take place over the next hour. Avoid any flooded roads.

6:55 pm Tuesday...the heavy rain extends from Dallas county through Rockwall and Hunt counties. These storms can produce an inch of rain in a very short time leading to flooding of poor drainage areas. Movement is SE at 15 mph. Gusty winds of 40 mph possible as well.

7:03pm Tuesday....very heavy rain moving into southern Dallas county with gusty winds and lightning. Rain amounts could exceed an inch in a short time leading to flooding issues. Movement is SE at 15 mph.

7:21 pm Tuesday...torrential rain continues to fall from Dallas county, northeast to Hopkins county. Rainfall rates of 2" per hour have been observed. Just west of downtown Dallas near Methodist Dallas Medical Center, over 3" has fallen. Don't drive through flooded roads!

7:38 pm Tuesday...torrential rain from Grand Prairie to Duncanville to Lancaster to Seagoville. 4" has been observed just west of downtown Dallas. Rain rates of 2"/hour common. Some street flooding is occurring. Use caution is these areas. The storms are moving SE at 15 mph.

This is a deceptive report. Much of the U.S. is NOT grappling with record heat. In fact, most areas are having typical July heat but nowhere near record-breaking.
